MENDHAR, Feb 3: The police arrested a drug- peddler from Mendhar area last evening and recovered some quantity of heroin from his possession.
A police spokesman said that one Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Khan Mohd, a resident of village Ucchad, in Mendhar was arrested last evening in Mendhar area and nearly about 150 gms of heroin was recovered from his possession.
The team lead by PSI Naveet and SHO Mendhar Insp Nayaz Ahmed intercepted a person and recovered the narcotics from him. A case FIR No. 23/2023 u/s 8/20/22 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Mendhar and investigation started.
The recovery was made under the supervision of SDPO Mendhar, Sheezan Bhat.
It is pertinent to mention here that during last year District Police Poonch registered 55 FIRs against 70 drug peddlers and recovered 107 kg heroin, 1.35 kg charas, 2.40 kg Ganja , 62 kg poppy straw, 9750 Teledyne tablets, 1.57 lakh Indian currency and 170 persons involved in drugs were booked under preventive sections of law.
