Srinagar, Aug 31: Police today said to have arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from his possession.
Acting on specific information, a special checkpoint was established at Okey Kulagm under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kulgam Shri Ghulam Muhamad Bhat-JKPS.
“During checking, a suspicious person carrying a gunny bag was intercepted, he has been identified as Hilal Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Rashid Mir resident of Okey Kulgam,” police said.
It said that during checking, officers were able to recover 500 gms of Charas and 5 kgs of Poppy Straw from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 202/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Kulgam and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.
