BANIHAL, Feb 13: Police foiled a narcotics smuggling bid at Banihal by arresting a drug peddler with 80 gram of Charas.
“During the routine naka checking at Banihal-Darpora link road, one pedestrian coming from Banihal side tried to flee after seeing the naka point but the alert police naka party caught him after a brief chase and recovered 80 gram of Charas like substance from his possession on checking,” police sources said.
Sources said the accused identified as Gulzar Ahmad son of Ghulam Mohi-udin Dar, resident of Darpora Chanjloo (tehsil Banihal) was arrested on the spot and the contraband which he has hidden in corn husk, was seized.
In this connection, a case FIR Number 22/2022 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered in police station Banihal and investigation started. It is pertinent to mention here that the arrested person is a notorious drug peddler and a history-sheeter of the area against whom several cases are previously registered.
The overall recovery and arrest was made by the police party headed by Inspector Naeem-ul-Haq, SHO Banihal under supervision of Nissar Khoja, SDPO Banihal and under overall supervision of Mohita Sharma, SP Ramban.
