JAMMU, Jan 16: Kanachack Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered cannabis from his possession.
As per police sources, on reliable information a team from Police Station Kanachack led by SHO Inspector Kunal Singh Jamwal under the supervision of SDPO Domana Sunil Singh and SP Rural Sanjay Sharma laid a naka and signalled a motorcycle to stop for checking.
On seeing cops, the rider accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but cops intercepted him after a brief chase.
During checking, police team recovered 120 grams cannabis from the possession of the rider and arrested him.
The arrested person was identified as Vinay Bhat, son of Vijay Kumar Bhat, a resident of Subash Nagar, District Jammu.
A case FIR Number 07/2022 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kanachack and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons involved in this illegal trade.
