Drug peddler arrested with poppy straw

JAMMU, July 21: Digiana police arrested intra State drug peddler along with poppy straw (bhukki).
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Digiana police post raised a special naka and asked a pedestrian to stop for checking, as he was trying to hide himself from the cops.
During checking, police recovered 2.500 kilograms poppy straw from the plastic bag being carried by the man and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Mohammad Aslam alias Nikko, son of Ghulam Mohammad, a resident of Digiana Pulli.
He had purchased the consignment from Srinagar on meager price and was about to sale it among the youth in Jammu and surrounding areas at Rs 4000 per kilogram.
A case under FIR Number 123/17 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the drug peddler at Gandhi Nagar police station and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge Digiana police post SI Pawan Dogra along with HC Prem Nath made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Ritesh Samyal, SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
