Srinagar, Mar 16: Police today said it have arrested a drug peddler and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession in Handwara area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
A police spokesman said acting on a specific information about movement of a drug peddler, a police team along with Executive Magistrate Zachaldara laid a trap near Sarmarg forests in Handwara.
“The drug peddler identified as Ghulam Mustafa Mir was apprehended near Sarmarg forests of Zachaldara and appreciable quantity of psychotropic substance (30 grams of Morphine) was recovered from his possession,” he said, adding that a case under FIR number 75/2016 under section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered against him and investigation has been initiated.
