Drug peddler arrested with 16 kg ganja

JAMMU, Mar 10: A drug peddler has been arrested along with 16 kilograms of ganja from Mrakhri Mohallah area, falling under the jurisdiction of Gangyal police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Gangyal police station laid a naka near Mrakhri Mohallah area and asked a pedestrian to stop for checking, as he was moving under suspicious circumstances.
On seeing police cops, the persons escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the person near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 16 kilograms ganja from the possession of the man and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Ajadi Saw, son of Haradev Saw, a resident of Patna, at present Digana Camp.
He had brought the consignment from Patna to Jammu via train and was about to deliver the consignment to his associates, but got nabbed by the police. He is a notorious drug peddler and 3 FIRs already stands registered against him.
A case under FIR Number 31/16 under Section 8/20 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Gangyal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal police station Inspector Aejaz Wani made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Sachin Gupta and SP South Shaazad Salaria.
