JAMMU, Sept 7: Divisional Railway Manager of Jammu Division, Vivek Kumar along with Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal today conducted a comprehensive inspection of all the railway bridges between Jammu and Pathankot Cantt, which have sustained damages due to recent heavy rains and floods.
Railway bridge number 232, built on Chakki River between Pathankot Cantt and Kandrodi block area of Jammu Division; railway bridge number 17, located between Kathua and Madhopur Punjab and railway bridge number 137, located between Ghagwal and Hiranagar have sustained damages leading to lot of problems in rail operations.
The main purpose of the inspection was to take stock of the ongoing repair work on these bridges. More than 250 people are currently working on these bridges for the repair work, which is likely to be completed soon.
During this inspection, Divisional Railway Manager of Jammu, Vivek Kumar said that “The safety of passengers is our top priority. After the flood incidents, we immediately started a detailed inspection of the infrastructure of a total of 232 bridges and all the necessary repair work is being completed soon”.
