RAMBAN, Mar 5: A driver went missing and one another was injured in accidents, here today.
As per police sources, a truck bearing registration number JK04A-7154 was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it rolled down into gorge near Jaswal Bridge in Karool area.
In the incident, the truck, which was loaded with liquor submerged into river Chenab and the driver identified as Sanjeev Kumar, son of Gaman Ditta, resident of Himachal Pradesh went missing.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot along with rescue team and launched hunt to fish out the driver from the river. The driver’s body was not fished out till last reports were compiled.
Meanwhile, a driver was injured when the dumper he was driving from Chamalwas to Banihal rolled down near Rattanbas area in tehsil Banihal.
The injured driver identified as Parvez Ahmed Padhar, son of Mohammad Akram Padhar, a resident of Neel Chadoos was rushed to SDH Banihal, where he was responding to the treatment, when last reports poured in.
Cases under relevant sections have been registered at Ramban and Banihal Police Stations and investigation started.
Meanwhile, the residents blocked the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway against delay in the treatment to the injured driver by the doctors and other medical staff present in SDH Banihal.
After getting information, SHO Banihal Inspector Aijaz Ahmed Wani rushed to the spot and assured the protestors of getting the treatment of injured driver done on priority basis.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and vehicular movement was restored on the highway.
