Driver killed in alleged security forces firing, massive protests erupt in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: A driver was killed when security forces allegedly opened fire, evoking massive protests in the frontier district of Kupwara on Sunday, official sources said.
They said driver of a cab (Tata Sumo) Asif Iqbal was killed when security forces allegedly opened fire after he did not stop at Kralpora, Kupwara.
Hundreds of people hit the streets alleging that Asif was killed by security forces without any provocation.
Demanding immediate arrest of security forces involved in the incident, the demonstrators blocked the main road.
Senior civil and police officials have rushed to the area, they said, adding that internet service has been suspended in the area. Details are awaited, they added.
