RAMBAN, Feb 22: A driver was killed after his mini-truck skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge here today morning, a police official said.
The deceased has been identified as Jagdish Kumar (40), son of Kali Dass, a resident of Tehsil Ramnagar, District Udhampur.

The truck, which was loaded with washing machines and refrigerators, was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu. It skidded off the road and rolled down into a 300 feet deep gorge at Chamalwas near Banihal at around 5 am, a police official said.
The rescuers immediately swung into action and pulled out the driver’s body from the gorge, he said, adding that the body was handed over to Kumar’s family after completion of legal formalities at SDH Banihal, the official said.
A case under relevant sections has been registered at Banihal Police Station and investigation started.
