Driver injured as vehicle skids off road

SRINAGAR, Dec 26: A driver was critically injured when his vehicle yesterday evening skidded off the road while leading towards Gulmarg and rolled down at least 70 meters deep into the gorge.
The driver was identified as Mohd Yousuf Magrey of Shari Tangmarn, who was later rescued with the help of a police party of Tangmarg and Gulmarg.
“The Tata sumo bearing registration number JK05A 1549 slipped off the due to slippery surface, but fortunately tourists were walking by foot instead of travelling in the vehicle,” DySP Ajay Sharma said.
Sharma said police party’s timely rescue saved his life and he was later shifted to Bone and Joints hospital Srinagar for treatment.
