Driver held with bhukki

UDHAMPUR, Nov 18: Police arrested a truck driver along with 4 kilograms poppy straw (bhukki) from Domail area, falling under the jurisdiction of Chenani police station.
As per police sources, on specific information, Police team from Chenani Police station laid a naka at Domail and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK08-4409, which was on its way to Kathua from Srinagar.
On seeing police party, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape from the spot, but the cops intercepted the truck near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 4 kilograms poppy straw (bhukki) from the truck and arrested the driver. The vehicle was also seized by the police.
The accused has been identified as Hardev Singh, son of Mohan Singh, a resident of Sawanchack, district Kathua.
A case under FIR Number 106/15 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Chenani police station and investigations started.
Police team led by SHO Chenani police station Inspector Mahesh Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Chenani Vinod Sharma and SSP Udhampur Suleman Chowdhary.
