RAMBAN, Aug 17: A driver was killed, while his associate was injured, when the truck they were traveling in, skidded off the road and plunged into gorge near Kela Morh area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02AK-7325 was on its way to Jammu from Srinagar, when the driver lost control over the vehicle and it fell into gorge near Kela Morh, resulting into the on spot death of driver and injuries to his associate.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot, rescued the injured person with the help of locals and shifted him to District Hospital Ramban, where he was undergoing treatment, when last reports came in.
The body of the deceased was also retrieved from the gorge and handed over to family members after conducting autopsy at District Hospital Ramban.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Shabir (18), son of Mohammad Sadiq, while the injured has been identified as Mohammad Aslam, son of Mohammad Hussain, both residents of Sudhmahadev, Tehsil Chenani, District Udhampur.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Ramban Police Station and investigation started.
