JAMMU, Dec 23: Police arrested a driver and his associate along with 55.5 kilograms of poppy straw (bhukki) near Ban Toll Plaza, Nagrota.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Nagrota police station raised a naka near Ban Toll Plaza and a truck bearing registration number JK02AA-0247 was intercepted.
During checking, police team seized 55.5 kilograms of poppy straw (bhukki) and arrested the driver and his associate.
The accused have been identified as Tersam Lal (driver), son of Ami Chand and Satish Kumar, son of Jung Bhadur, both residents of Panjgrain, RS Pura.
A case under FIR Number 300/15 under Section 8/15/60 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Nagrota police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Nagrota police station Inspector Karan Chalotra made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Bharat Bhushan Sharma, SP Rural Rajeev Pandey and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
