Driver, associate held with 35 kg poppy straw

JAMMU, July 14: Chinore police nabbed a driver and his associate along with 35 kilograms of poppy straw (bhukki) from Keran area.
As per police sources, on specific information, police team from Chinore police post laid a naka at Keran and signaled a truck bearing registration number JK02AD-3763 to stop.
On seeing police team, driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the active cops of Chinore police post chased the vehicle and intercepted the vehicle at some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 35 kilograms of poppy straw and arrested the driver and his associate.
The accused has been identified as driver Karpal Singh, son of late Chattar Singh and Akbar Khan, son of Sher Mohammad, both residents of Gundha Kalakote, at present Keran Thather.
A case under FIR number 223/15 under Section 8/15 narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Domana and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge Chinore police post SI Vikram Singh Manhas made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Domana Inspector Rajinder Sharma, SDPO Domana Surinder Sharma and Incharge SSP Jammu Rajiv Pandey.
