UDHAMPUR, Mar 17: Chenani police arrested a driver along with 390 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Chenani Police Station laid a naka and intercepted a truck (tralla) bearing registration number JK03F-9835.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape from the spot, but the cops intercepted the vehicle after a brief chase.
During checking, police team recovered 390 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver.
The accused has been identified as Mohammad Alyas (21), son of Mohammad Hussain, a resident of Shadara Sharief Tehsil Thanamandi District Rajouri.
A case under FIR Number 46/2020 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chenani and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons involved in this illegal trade.
Police team led by SHO Chenani Inspector Paramjeet Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Chenani Shafi Zarger, Additional SP Udhampur Rajinder Katoch and SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey.
