JAMMU, Oct 1: Police arrested a driver for raping a widow in Chokroi area, falling under the jurisdiction of RS Pura police station.
As per police sources, a 36-year-old widow hailing from Chakroi area lodged a complaint with police station RS Pura that a man identified as Sunil Kumar, son of Romesh Lal, a resident of same area barged into her house and outraged her modesty, when she was alone at her residence last night. The accused is a driver by profession.
The woman was restored to family members after conducting medical examination and a case under FIR Number 151/15 under Section 376 RPC was registered at RS Pura police station.
On specific information, police team from RS Pura police station arrested the accused from a hideout.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Inspector Bhushan Manhas made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Harjeet Singh, SP Headquarters Randheer Singh and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
