JAMMU, Nov 9: Demanding release of their dues, members of All J&K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association held a strong protest demonstration, here today.
Led by the Association president Dev Raj Bali,  the protesting retired employees of the Transport Department raised slogans for release of their legitimate dues for the last five years.  They were also demanding One Rank One Pension in the Public Sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
While addressing the protesting employees Mr Bali lamented that despite commitment for one time settlement at the time of their VRS/GHS, the Government  has not yet released their 50 percent dues on account of  COLA arrears since 1999, 6th Pay Commission arrears and  8.33 percent bonus on the basic pay.
“We took the VRS/GHS on the assurance of the authorities that our dues will be cleared within 60 days whereas we have been struggling for the last five years for the same,” he said and alleged that the Government was forcing them to hold protest rallies and stage dharnas.
The Association president informed that 12 VRS employees has died during the last five years as they could not afford proper treatment in the absence of no money. “Who is responsible for this irreparable loss?” he asked and appealed the Chief Minister to personally intervene into the matter  and order release of  their balance dues from the package announced by Prime Minister  of India.
Those, who spoke on the occasion, included Balwinder Singh, Surinder Singh, Gulchain Singh, Prem Nath, Sain Mohd, Deep Raj, B V Sharma, J D Singh and others.
