JAMMU, Aug 8: A drive to preserve environment and promoting ‘Go Green’ was organized today by Directorate of Accounts & Treasuries, Jammu, here at Government High School (GHS), Raipur (Domana).
Similar events were also organized by all 59 Treasuries of Jammu Province. Director General, Accounts & Treasuries, Mahesh Dass, launched the drive in presence of Director Accounts & Treasuries, Jammu, Neeraj Gupta Bakshi.
The Director General Accounts & Treasuries, Finance Department, after inaugurating the drive, said that it is a small effort to contain the global warming and reduce its impact on climate change. He said the tree plantation is imperative for the society and this initiative will go a long way in inculcating awareness among the people about environment, its conservation.
He emphasized that the department would continue to organize such activities in future also so as to contribute in maintaining ecological balance and conserving the environment. The saplings of Mango, Guava, Neem, Arjun, Arnie, Omar etc were planted during the drive.
The Director Accounts and Treasuries, Jammu informed that the drive has been undertaken throughout the Province and all 59 Treasuries of Jammu Province are participating in the event by planting saplings in their respective headquarters. She further said that Accounts & Treasuries Organization is committed towards its social responsibilities.
The event was attended by the City Treasury Officers and officers/staff members of the Accounts & Treasuries, Organization.
Moreover, Ashok Khajuria (Saddar Treasury Officer, Jammu) planted the saplings at Government High School Chinore, Prithpal Singh (Treasury Officer Additional Treasury Talab Tillo) at Middle School Keran, Treasury Officer (Additional Treasury New Plot) at Resource Office ZEO Keran and Mehak Gupta (Treasury Officer Additional Treasury Gandhi Nagar) at High School Lower Thathar.
