SRINAGAR, Mar 20: Dr Syed Amin Tabish, Medical Superintendent SKIMS, has received the APJ Abdul Kalam Award for his outstanding achievements and distinguished services to the nation in the field of healthcare, medical education and research.
Dr Tabish was also awarded the Gold Medal for his outstanding contribution and praiseworthy achievements in healthcare and scientific research. The award comprised a trophy, a citation and a gold medal.
The award was presented to him by Randhir Singh, former Governor of Sikkim, in a glittering function, organized at India International Centre, New Delhi today during a national conference on economic growth and development in India.
The other dignitaries present included Dr Krishnamurthy, former Election Commissioner of India, Dr Shripal, leading educationist, S.K. Gupta, leading industrialist, Surat Singh, leading lawyer of the Supreme Court, Dr. Anula Maurya, leading educationist, Dr Majid, leading oncologist of India, and Shiv Seth, President Friendship Forum.
The award adds to Dr. Tabish’s already remarkable haul of awards that include the 7th Medgate Award, Lifetime Achievement Award by AHA and Shri Ram Memorial Award by NAMS.
Dr. Tabish is the author of eight books and has published 400 research papers and is on the editorial board of 18 international medical journals.
Moreover, he has devoted his entire life to serving the people of J&K state in spite of lucrative job offers from the West and the Middle East. At SKIMS, Dr. Tabish is known for introducing the level system in the emergency department, first-of-its-kind in the world.
