JAMMU, Apr 15: In a first, a Kashmiri scientist, Dr Syed Basharat Ahmad Shah was awarded coveted Fellowship of the Indian Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Research (IAAVR) at the inaugural session of the prestigious 17th Indian veterinary Congress held recently at the University of Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bareilly.
The Fellowship was awarded to Dr Syed Basharat for his outstanding research contributions and academic achievements in the field of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. Fellowships like these are awarded only to persons of eminence like Vice Chancellors of Universities, Deans of the faculties, Chief Scientists.
The award was given by Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, Director General (DG) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Government of India, New Delhi, who is also Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, together with Dr Manmohan Singh, Special Chief Seretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh and Vice Chancellor, Sri Venkateshwara Veterinary university, Andhra Pradesh, Vice Chancellor, IVRI.
This type of recognition from the prime national and internationally affiliated institutions incorporating scientists from more than 100 universities is a matter of prestige in the scientific world.
