JAMMU, Jan 3: Dr A Q Salaria, Professor, Department of Orthopedics ASCOMS and former HoD Orthopedics GMC Jammu has performed rare Total Hip Replacement surgery on a 50 years old woman, whose both components of hip joint were replaced giving her pain free movements at the hip joint.
Dr Salaria, the joint replacement surgeon of great repute, performed the surgery in minimum time with minimum blood loss at Maharishi Dayanand Hospital and Medical Research Centre.
“The surgery was successful and the patient has almost recovered fully,’’ Dr Salaria said, adding she would be discharged from the hospital in next couple of days and will be fully fit to walk and enjoy rest of her life.
The patient, prior to the surgery, was finding it very hard to walk and was diagnosed a case of AVN of Hip Joint in which blood supply to the hip joint is lost leading to secondary OA of hip joint.
She was suffering from the disease for the past 20 years.
