JAMMU, Dec 13: Dr T R Raina, former Professor and Head Department of Blood Transfusion Medicines, Government Medical College, Jammu, has been nominated as Member of Advisory Committee for Haemovigilance Programme of India at the national level by the Director of National Institute of Biologicals, an autonomous scientific institute under the administrative control of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Other members of the Advisory Committee included the nominees from World Health Organisation (WHO), Drug Controller of India, NACO, State Drug and Food Organisations and experts in the field of Transfusion Medicine.
Haemovigilance is a continuous process of data collection and analysis of Blood Transfusion Reactions in order to investigate their causes and outcomes and prevent their occurrence or recurrence.
The programme has already been launched in 60 Medical Colleges of the country including Government Medical College, Jammu and SKIMS Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.
