JAMMU, May 26: In a moment of pride for Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Priyanka Parihar from Dachhan tehsil of Kishtwar today secured the top position in the All India DrNB Superspeciality Exit Examination in Gynecologic Oncology.
She was conferred the prestigious NBEMS President’s Gold Medal by Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda.
Daughter of Murli Kumar Parihar and Krishna Parihar, Dr Priyanka has brought laurels to the Union Territory with her outstanding academic achievement.
She completed her MBBS and MD in Obstetrics and Gynecology from Government Medical College Jammu before pursuing her superspeciality training in Gynecologic Oncology at Dharamshila Narayana Superspeciality Hospital.
Notably, Dr Priyanka is recognized as the first gynecologic oncologist from Jammu and Kashmir.
She appeared for the final DrNB examination held in October 2025 and emerged as the national topper, marking a significant milestone in her medical career.
Dr Priyanka is married to Dr Paras Soni, a surgical oncologist based in Jalandhar, Punjab.
Her remarkable accomplishment has been widely appreciated by the medical fraternity and is being celebrated as a proud moment for the entire region, particularly the Chenab Valley.
