Dr Parveen Lone delivers lecture on Oral Cancer

JAMMU, Feb 13: Post Graduate Department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery Goverment Dental College Jammu observed the International Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons’ Day today with the theme ‘Early Detection and Prevention of Oral Cancer’ with tag line “Beat cancer, before it beats you” A lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Parveen Akhtar Lone, HoD,Principal and Dean Indira Gandhi Government Dental College Jammu as how to prevent oral cancer with its early detection as dentists are first to encounter these pre malignant lesion. Pamphlets were distributed among common people in the hospital and outside busy market area with the topic how to identify and prevent oral cancer and avoid bad oral habits and tobacco chewing.
Series of lectures were given by Post Graduate residents on the oral cancer. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Sanjay Kumar Bhagat, Assistant Professor Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The event was attended by faculty, senior residents, junior residents, interns , paramedical and para dental staff of the department.
The celebration of International OMFS Surgeons’ Day was not only a tribute to Dr. Mino S. Ginwala, Father of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in India (whose birthday falls on 13th February) but also a platform for knowledge dissemination and professional collaboration marking a memorable milestone in the journey of dental excellence.
