Dr Manuj Wadhwa receives recognition in Limca Book

JAMMU, Mar 23: Dr Manuj Wadhwa of Max Super Speciality Hospitals has received recognition in 2014 edition of Limca Book of Records for having performed a record number of 331 joint replacement surgeries in the month of March last year.
Dr Wadhwa’s name features in the 2014 special 25th Anniversary edition of Limca Book of Records released on March 6 for having performed the complex surgeries in March 2013.
Talking about his feat, Dr Wadhwa, Director and Head, Department of Orthopaedics and Joint Replacement with Max Hospitals said that latest technologies and advancement in Knee Replacement Surgery was now highly accurate and time saving with a normal procedure could be completed within 15-20 minutes.
Pioneering the concept of CT-based surgeries and navigation in Joint Replacements, Dr Wadhwa is the first to start Rotating Platform and High Flexion Total Knee Replacement in North India.
Having performed over 15,000 joint replacements in his career spanning 12 years, Dr Wadhwa broke new grounds in the field of arthroplasty and has also launched concept of 30 year life Joint Replacement and done first case of latest designs Attune and Verilast in country recently.
Dr Wadhwa has won a number of awards and honours including felicitation by then President of India, Pratibha Patil for handling complex knee and hip replacement surgery of euthanasia petitioner Seema Sood in July 2008, including ‘Rashtriya Rattan Award’, ‘Rajiv Gandhi Shiromani Award’ and ‘Man of the Year’ award by the American Biographical Institute, USA.
Some of Dr Wadhwa’s breakthrough surgeries include first CT based Trumatch bilateral TKR in North India, first Oxinium Bilateral TKR on a 16-year-old girl suffering from complex rheumatoid arthritis, complex ankylosed hip replacement on a patient who was bedridden for 21 years and large Head Metal on metal hip replacement on a foreign national.
Meanwhile, Dr G Dewan, President, IMA, Chandigarh congratulated Dr Wadhwa on this rare achievement and for brining laurels to medical fraternity of the tricity.
