“This National Highway is going to be the game changer and on the lines of DND (Delhi Noida Direct) it will be D&D, reducing distance between Doda and Dalhousi in Himachal Pradesh to mere four hours and covering all tourist spots thus giving a major boost to tourism industry in the region,” he explained.
Dr Singh claimed that erstwhile Doda region is going to play a crucial role in economic prosperity of J&K as tapping of its so far unutilized resources like water, tourism and aromatic plants will give tremendous boost to the economy.
“The earlier Governments did not give priority to Doda region, which remained unexplored till recent years. However, we have brought it into the centre stage through various hydro projects and aroma mission,” he said, adding that lack of connectivity was biggest impediment in development of the area and therefore the issue is being addressed at priority level.
