NEW DELHI, May 13: In a unique and the first of its kind initiative amid lockdown, in the wake of COVID pandemic, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today reached out to junior employees and, through Video Conference, interacted with lower staff and officials up to the level of Section Officers in various departments, including DoPT, DARPG and Pensions/DoPPW, falling under the union Ministry of Personnel.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Jitendra Singh inquired about the health of all the junior grade employees and their families. He said, the Modi Government is committed to the well being of its employees and was always concerned for their welfare with a great degree of sensitivity.
Referring to “Work from Home” arrangement adopted during the COVID crisis, Dr Jitendra Singh said, it is being followed with only 33 percent presence of staff in offices and this itself is a reiteration of our commitment to provide safe and work friendly environment for our employees.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that senior officers of the Ministry are leading from the front in these trying times without putting their other staff at risk and expressed satisfaction that, despite this, the output of the departments is maintained and in no way has the work been allowed to suffer. He conveyed appreciation that some of the junior employees were found working from home even during the weekends.
Dr Jitendra Singh assured the staff and the officers that all their grievances including promotion cases would be taken care of, once the lockdown is lifted. He, however, added that orders for more than 400 promotions were already issued.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that the main idea of today’s conference in the “new normal” working environment was to know the well being of the employees and their families and to address their grievances, if any with utmost sensitivity. He said that the Ministry of Personnel lays down the norms of functioning for other Ministries and expressed the hope that other Ministries would also take a cue to hold such meetings.
Secretary DARPG, Dr. Kshtrapati Shivaji, Secretary, DoPT, Dr. C. Chandramouli and other senior officials took part in the meeting.
