NEW DELHI, Dec 25: On the occasion of the “Good Governance Day”, coinciding with the birthday of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh, launched here today, the first-ever, Government of India’s “Employee Portal” developed by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT).
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the “Employee Portal”, launched as a part of “Electronic Human Resources Management System”, is an extension of a series of hi-tech employee-friendly initiatives which began with the launch of the first-ever “e-Service Book” which was launched on the 30th of March this year. As a part of five big modules envisaging e-Service Book, Personnel Information System, Leave related website, computerized LTC Application, loan / advances computerized service, tour application etc , today’s launch is also a befitting year-ender gift for employees across the country, he added.
With the launch of this new system, Dr Jitendra Singh informed that the employees will not only be able to directly access and see all the details with relation to their Service Book, GPF, Salary, Leave status, etc. but would also be able to apply On-line for different kinds of claims, reimbursements, loans, leaves, LTC Advance, etc. on a single platform. As a result of this, he said, employees will no longer be dependent on the updating of the data related to them by the administration, but on the contrary, they would themselves be in a position to update the data by directly logging-in, subject to verification by the concerned administrative department.
Within next few weeks, Dr Jitendra Singh disclosed, the DoPT will be conducting a workshop where all the Ministries and Departments in the Government of India will be invited to understand and adopt these new practices. Subsequently, he said, the various State Governments and Union Territory administrations will also be persuaded to do so.
Giving full credit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his personal indulgence and inspiration which has made landmark governance reforms possible in the last three and a half years , Dr Jitendra Singh made a special mention of the Prime Minister’s initiative to start monthly “Pragati interaction” through video conferencing with Chief Secretaries of different States, the order permitting self-attestation of certificates, a revolutionary change in the format of Civil Services Day involving IAS officers up to district level, introduction of three months’ mentorship / internship in Central Government for the new IAS officers before going to their respective cadres, hike in minimum pension, abolition of interviews for lower level posts, etc.
