Biker dies, pillion rider injured in road mishap

NOWSHERA, Dec 25: A motorcyclist died while his pillion rider was injured when their bike rammed into a JCB machine after being hit by a tipper, here this morning.
The deceased was identified as Gurpreet Singh, son of Gurbachan Singh of Lower Nonial. He reportedly died on the spot while his pillion rider. Namely Karanveer Singh, son of Kulbir Singh of Lower Nonial, was critically injured.
The victims were on way from village Nonial to village Kanara when their bike was hit by tipper JK11B-6212, coming from the opposite direction. After being hit by the tipper, the bike rammed into a wrongly parked JCB machine.
Driver of the tipper fled from the spot while Police seized both Tipper and JCB.
Following the incident, locals protested against district administration alleging that JCBs were used for the work, which was to be done manually only by the labours. Protesters said more than five JCB machines were working in the area thus damaging roads. They were also demanding action against the contractor
