KATHUA, May 1: Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern region (Independent Charge), PMO, Personnel Public Grievance and Pension, Dr Jitendra Singh and Minister for Health and Medical Education Ch Lal Singh today inaugurated three-day Heritage and Health Mela at Basohli today.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Jitendra Singh said that Government of India is making all efforts to develop Basohli town as Heritage city. He said that Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is providing adequate funding in every sector so that every corner of the State is developed on modern lines.
He appealed the people to avail the benefits of Centrally Sponsored Schemes like Jan Dhan Yojna by opening their accounts.
In his address, Ch Lal Singh said that aim of organising the Health and Heritage Mela is to provide better healthcare facilities to the people of Basohli at their doorsteps. He said that Government has deputed adequate doctors with latest medical equipment to examine the patients.
He said that Government is committed to provide better healthcare facilities in every nook and corner of the State, adding that in this regard strict instructions have been issued to the medical and para medical staff to remain available in their respective health institutions as per duty roaster so that no patients do not suffer.
Ch Lal Singh said that Basohli town will be developed with all basic amenities like better road connectivity, safe drinking water, uninterrupted power supply and schools. He informed that Government has approved Rs 49 crore for upgradation of roads in Basohli, adding there is no constraints of funds in providing better amenities to people.
Responding to the demands of people, Ch Lal Singh said that there is no shortage of ration in Government godowns, adding Government will ensure adequate supply of ration under fixed scale.
Earlier, a scintillating cultural programme was organized by district administration in collaboration with Health Department which was highly applauded by present audience.
DG ISM Dr Abdul Kabir Dar, DDC Kathua Dr Shahid Iqbal, Director Health Services Dr B S Pathania, Mission Director NHM, Dr Yashpaul Shama, Project Director AIDS Control Society Dr Mohan Singh, Director Family Welfare Dr Baldev Raj Sharma, SSP Kathua Neeva Jain, ADC Kathua Dr Mushtaq Ahmed, ADDC Kathua Manmohan Singh, SDM Basohli Gurmukh Singh besides district officers were present on the occasion. Ex-MLA Kanta Andotra, sarpanchs, panchs including local people in large numbers also attended the Mela
On the occasion, Dr Sushil Sharma, HoD Cardiology, Government Medical College Jammu organized a free medical camp wherein around 200 people were examined.
