SSA teachers’ delegation meet Minister

JAMMU, Sept 30: Union Minister of State in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh today honoured Jammu and Kashmir’s Ace Para Athlete , Chandeep Singh who despite facing all odds, converted his disability into ability to emerge as golden boy of the country and the State as well by winning two gold medals for India in the ongoing Kimunyong Cup Taekwondo Championship held at Korea.
While honouring the sportsperson who is the son of the soil, Dr Jitendra Singh said for the sustenance of this promising youth who brought laurels to his country and the State funds need to be raised to give him support to excel in future too. The Minister said that he at his level will try best for the upliftment of this youth so that his potential is fully exploited at international level and his dream comes true.
Candidly admitting that we have not been able to support him to the extent he needed, Dr Jitendra Singh said all efforts will be made at his level in this regard. He said this sportsperson has not been given due recognition by the State till date also though he has a tremendous potential to excel and we should feel proud of him. Coming from a lower middle class family, Chandeep Singh managed to get international medal with the meager support his parents could provide, the Minister added.
He said but in future every step will be taken for providing him all support so that he can excel in future too as he will be an inspiration to other differently abled persons in the State as well as country.
Meanwhile a deputation of Sarvav Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers also called on Dr Jitendra Singh this morning and complimented him for taking personnel initiative in resolving their issue by granting the Seventh Pay Commission benefits to them.
The delegation said that it was only due to personnel efforts of Dr Jitendra Singh that their long pending issue was resolved and they got justice.
Interacting with the delegation, Dr Jitendra Singh expressed the hope that these teachers will now devote their entire energy in teaching the students as teachers are the builders of the nation. “ It is the teacher who can lay a long impact on the life of his students and imbibe the spirit of patriotism, honesty, co-existence and brotherhood among them so that they can become good citizens of the nation tomorrow’’, he added.
