NEW DELHI, July 29: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today held a lively video conference interaction with a group of youth from Basholi and Billawar Assembly Constituencies.
This was part of the recently undertaken initiative by Dr Jitendra Singh to keep himself connected as an MP, on regular basis, with different sections of people across the remote areas of the vast Lok Sabha constituency of Udhampur- Kathua-Doda.
The nearly two-hour long video interaction was marked by a high level of excitement and enthusiasm on the part of the young participants, who were highly appreciative of the high-tech communication mechanism employed by Dr Jitendra Singh, to keep in touch with people living in remote areas of the region. Many of them, who are already active on the social media, said that they were thrilled to find an electronic platform to engage in a direct dialogue with their MP. Some of them also candidly confessed that sometimes, due to some reasons, when it was difficult for them to meet even their local representatives, this new platform offered an exciting opportunity to directly communicate their views to their MP.
Dr Jitendra Singh expressed satisfaction that this electronic interaction experiment has proved highly successful and enabled him to keep in touch with his constituents on a day-to-day basis. He said, over the last four years of his tenure as MP, he has religiously devoted 2 to 3 days every week to travel to one or the other part of the vast Parliamentary constituency which consists of 17 Assembly segments and extends right from Lakhanpur upto Banihal tunnel. Since he may not be able to physically present everywhere at every time, he said, the new electronic medium offers an opportunity to reach out to different areas without being physically present and at the same time, also to hold a similar interactive meet at short notice, whenever there arises an issue of urgent nature.
Among the common current issues on which the participants offered their views included recent strike by Anganwadi workers, delay in payment of MGNREGA workers, demand for new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) etc. Dr Jitendra Singh conveyed that the issues of Anganwadi workers and delay in MGNREGA payments have already been brought to the notice of the concerned Advisors of the Governor and the same are being resolved. He said, about KV, there are certain guidelines but he is in touch with Deputy Commissioner Kathua about how to go about with it.
There was also a demand to open new Jan Aushadhi outlets started by the Modi Government and Dr Jitendra Singh said that he would ask the district administration to take the local population in confidence for deciding new locations for these outlets. There were also certain inputs regarding the implementation of the Central Government’s flagship programmes like Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and PM Mudra Yojana.
