NEW DELHI, Dec 21: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that Government accords high priority to promote the use of Hindi language in day-to-day office working, but at the same time, it should not be, by any means, construed as an attempt to forcibly impose anything on anybody. “We believe in promoting Hindi through ”motivation” and by inspiration, not imposition”, he said.
Addressing a meeting of “Hindi Salahkar Samiti” of Department of Space and Department of Atomic Energy here today, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the use of Hindi as a medium of communication in office work in Government circles, has certainly increased in last four and a half years. But, what is the most important change in the last over four years, he said, is that earlier many of us were writing documents in Hindi, but still “thinking” in English and now, most of us who write in Hindi also “think” in Hindi.
Dr Jitendra Singh lauded the Department of Space, in particular, for having completely switched over to the use of Hindi in office files. He suggested publication of literature and booklets in Hindi to make people aware of the historic achievements in recent years, which have placed our Space technology and ISRO ahead of all the other countries in the world.
Dr Jitendra Singh also suggested that Hindi Samiti should organize Hindi related programmes on quarterly basis regardless of whether the Minister is available or not, so that the continuity is not lost.
