Dr Jitendra asks States, UTs to switch over to e-Office

NEW DELHI, Feb 12: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER),MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh today called upon the State and Union Territory Governments to switch over to e-Office, in order to achieve the targets of public welfare schemes within stipulated timeline and to ensure maximum participation of citizens.
Delivering the keynote address, as chief guest, after formally inaugurating the National Workshop on e-Office and launch of CPGRAM reforms, Dr Jitendra Singh expressed satisfaction over the fact that nearly 54 Ministries under the Government of India had already switched over to  e-Office and over 15 lakh e-Files were being cleared every week in different offices of the Government of India. He called upon State and Union Territory governments to implement e-Office and seek whatever assistance required from Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) and other central agencies which are readily available to facilitate the process.
While reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mantra of “Maximum Governance Minimum Government”, Dr Jitendra Singh said, e-Governance and e-Office are essential to achieve the basic essence of maximum governance which is related to transparency with increasing participation of citizens. He said, e-Office is no longer a privilege or obligation but a necessary and essential tool to achieve the Modi government’s vision of “India 2022’’.
Dr Jitendra Singh also called upon the Union Territory and State Governments  to educate citizens about how to extract optimum utility from the digital tools of governance. He said, with most of the office procedures in the Central Government now switching over to the on-line system and most of the official websites getting updated on real time basis, it is important for the citizens also to be aware of the new facilities and options available to them and about how to use them.

Awards were given to the representatives of the Ministries which had excelled in the use of e-Office.
