‘Jammu based leadership of 2 parties misleading people’

JAMMU, Sept 30: Union Minister of State in PMO with independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh today asked the Congress and National Conference (NC) to clear their stand on Rohingyas who were settled here during their rule.
Dr Singh, who reached here this afternoon on a two days tour of the State to visit Doda district tomorrow, in an informal chat with reporters, said that the leadership of the two parties was hoodwinking the people on this serious issue which is linked to security and safety of the country.
He said when an opinion is building in entire nation that Roghingyas who have been illegally settled over here be deported, the J&K should also frame a unanimous opinion over this issue which will be in consonance with national opinion. Lambasting the NC and Congress leadership, he said that they have three views on this issue and they change their stand from Kashmir to Delhi.
“These parties have one view in Kashmir, second in Jammu and third in Delhi”, he said, adding for this contradictory stand on a single issue the two parties have been exposed not only before the people of the State but before the people of country as a whole.
Dr Jitendra Singh accused the NC leadership of tactically supporting the view of separatists on Rohingyas in Kashmir valley and to please them (separatists) they say that they must not be deported from the State and in Jammu their leaders say that the Rohingyas be deported from the State. He said recently when Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh visited the State, the NC leaders who met him, did not utter even a single word about Rohingyas and talked about the human rights of the people.
“But in this age of real time reporting when the majority of population is of youth who can’t be misled any more as they are well connected with internet and have information of every thing happening around the world so they want the reply of issues,” he asserted.
He said the stand of Congress is also quite confusing on Rohingyas as well as the holiday on Maharaja’s birthday. While their top leadership is silent on the issue, the lower rung leadership makes statements which do not have approval of the party High Command.
He said in NC while senior party leadership maintains silence over the issue, the lower rung leaders who are in a state of desperation continue to make contradictory statements to hoodwink the people of Jammu region.
Dr Jitendra Singh said this is quite in contrast to the working of BJP where the stand on different issues is decided collectively by Party High Command.
Cautioning the people of Jammu against the contradictory and confusing role on the issue of Rohingyas and holiday on Maharaja’s birthday, Dr Jitendra asked them that they should not come into the influence of the lower rung leadership of these two parties as it were they who were responsible for settlement of Rohingyas here thus putting people to a grave security risk and also failed to give respect to the former Dogra ruler of the State during their 60 year long rule.
He said it was the BJP which installed the statue of Maharaja at Tawi bridge and it was surprising for the leaders of Congress and NC that they did not bother to attend the function at that time.But now they have suddenly become sympathetic to him.
The Union Minister said that Congress and NC should also make their stand clear on West Pakistan refugees if they support settlement of Rohingyas here. He asked “why can’t then West Pak refugees be settled in the State who are living here for last 70 years now”?
Dr Jitendra Singh, in response to a question about the Pakistan misadventures across from border, said that Indian security forces are giving a befitting reply to the enemy.
He, while commending success of BSF in detecting a yet another tunnel along the border in Arnia Sector in Jammu region, said that credit goes to Modi Government which has given a free hand to security forces and army, who were working now with more professionalism without any interference from any body.
“The achievements of the security forces and Army whether in eliminating the dreaded terrorists in Valley or repulsing the infiltration from across or detecting the underground tunnels and surgical strikes is the result of free hand given to them by the Modi Government,” he added.
