Dr Gurjit Singh heads N-Z Cardiac Surgeons Association

Jammu, June 14: Dr Gurjit Singh the well-known Cardiac Surgeon of the town has been elected as president of Association of North Zone Cardio-Thoracic & Vascular Surgeons.
He was elected unanimously to the coveted post during the conference of the association held at Shimla, where he received the baton from outgoing president, Dr. H S Bedi, Head of Cardio-thoracic & Vascular Surgery department, CMC Ludhiana.
This prestigious Association is the apex body of all the CTVS surgeons from North India and includes J & K, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh (UT), Uttrakhand and Haryana.
Other office bearers of the association include Dr. Ashwani Suri (Head CTVS, Tagore Hospital, Jallandhar), Senior Vice President, Dr. Rana Sandeep Singh (Prof. CTVS, PGI, Chandigarh) Vice President, Dr. Rajiv Kumar (Head CTVS, DMC, Ludhiana), Secretary and Dr. Rajnish Pathania (Head CTVS, IGMC, Shimla) treasurer.
Dr. Gurjit Singh is retired Professor & Head, Cardio-Thoracic & Vascular Surgery Department, GMC Jammu and is pioneer in establishing CTVS Department and starting open heart surgery in GMC Jammu in 2001.
He is fellow of the Association of Cardio-thoracic & Vascular Surgeons of India and Vascular Society of India and life member of many academic bodies like IMA, NAMS, VAI, ASI (NZ), JAKASI and ANZCTVS.
