JAMMU, Feb 8: Dr Deepak Kumar, Assistant Professor of Department of Botany, Central University of Jammu, has been conferred with “Young Scientist Award-2017” in recognition of his outstanding performance and contribution along with optimum dedication and sincerity towards the Life Science Research and Educational community by Scientific Planet Society, Dehradun.
Currently, Dr Kumar is working on understanding the mechanisms involved in abiotic and biotic stress tolerance in plants and studying modulation of gene expression in various systems applying the transgenic approach for functional validation of potential genes involved in stress tolerance in crop plants and understanding the molecular and biochemical circuitry operative under such stress conditions.
In another achievement for the Department, Dr Meenakshi Raina, Research Fellow associated with Dr Kumar, was conferred with Best Oral Presentation award in the area of Agricultural and Environmental Biotechnology at International Conference on Advances in Biosciences and Biotechnology – ICABB-2018, Noida, New Delhi.
