JAMMU, Feb 22: Dr. S.S. Bloeria, Member Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), called on Governor N N Vohra, Chairman of the Board, at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Dr Bloeria briefed the Governor about the progress of the Super Speciality Hospital and the Nursing College at Kakryal.
The Governor stressed the need to develop the entire Banganga area in a systematic manner for restoring the river and protecting the environment.
Mushtaq Ahmad, Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Bank also called on Governor N N Vohra apprised him about Bank’s financial results for the 3rd Quarter.
The Governor complimented Chairman Mushtaq Ahmad over the significant enhancements achieved in several areas of functioning during the 3rd Quarter, particularly in regard to the reduction in the percentage of NPAs.
The Governor discussed with Chairman the need for the Bank to provide targeted support to identified segments of the State’s economy and stressed the Bank’s responsibility to play a larger role in speeding up the growth and development of the State.
A deputation from Padder led by Sunil Sharma, MLA Kishtwar also called on Governor.
The members of the deputation urged the Governor for: recommending to the Government of India for granting Scheduled Tribe status to Sub-Division Padder; creation of facilities for pilgrims of Machail Mata, including good approach roads and a solar power plant for the shrine area; early tendering for Karthai Power project; increase in allocation of rations and directions for commencement of air services to Warwan area of Kishtwar.
The Governor also discussed the feasibility of raising one or more nurseries for promoting cultivation of pine nuts (chilgoza) in this region and desired that Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-J be addressed to urgently prepare a pilot project for this purpose.
Er. Rashid, MLA Langate represented to the Governor about the impediments and difficulties faced by him when he was proceeding to Rajouri a few days ago. The Governor observed that he would seek an urgent report in the matter from DGP and urged Er. Rashid to continue his efforts for promoting the people’s welfare and pursue all matters relating to speeding up of developmental works, better utilization of available resources and time bound completion of projects and programmes in his Constituency.
