JAMMU, Jan 28: The displaced families from Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) today held protest demonstration projecting their demands near Press Club here today.
Led by Capt Yudhvir Singh Chib, president and under the banner of POJK DPs’ Front 1947, 65, 71 Camp and Non Camp-1971, a large number of people assembled in morning near Press Club Jammu. Earlier, they unfurled National flag to mark the Republic Day, followed by protest demonstration. They were raising their issues which have remained unresolved.
They demanded enhancement in the PM package , reservation for their wards in jobs, educational institutions and professional colleges. They demanded 12 Assembly seats reserved for PoK DPs, backward status for all DPs, besides implementation of JPC Report. They demanded that all the refugees whether Camp or non-Camp, be provided justice.
Chib while addressing the gathering demanded that 2nd supplementary list of 800 families be accepted by the Revenue authorities, I-Card be issued to all the PoJK DPs, land less families of PoJK DPs be allotted lands or be given compensation on prevailing rates, Development Board be set for PoJK and Chhamb DPs etc.
He further pointed out that many PoJK DP families whose files have duly verified and approved by revenue authorities have not been paid relief amount of Rs 5.50 lakhs even after the lapse of six months. The payment process be expedited.
After protesting and carrying banners and placards, depicting their demands the protesting refugees sought justice from Govt,
Prominent among others included JP Sharma, RP Singh, Kuldip Singh Chib, Sakandhya Devi, Capt Bihari Singh, Ch Sukhjinder Singh and others.
