JAMMU, Oct 10: West Pakistani Hindu Refugee Front, an organization of displaced persons from West Pakistan, today distributed blankets among poor people at village Pindi in Purgwal border area.
The DPs’ body in a meeting held at Pindi border village on Sunday, distributed about two dozen blankets amongst poor widows and other needy families of the village under the chairmanship of Sub Maj(Retd) Madan Lal Dubgotra, president WPHRF in collaboration with Special Anti Crime Team and Welfare Society J&K in presence of Sanjeev Adgotra, president SACTWS, Master Dev Raj, vice president, Seema Jan Kalyan Samiti, J&K and Samsher Singh, Numbardar of the village Pindi.
While addressing the people, president WPHRF said that West Pakistani Hindu refugees are suffering for the last 69 years for permanent residents status. They are also lacking other facilities and privileges connected with day to day life, like professional education to children, scholarship, SC or OBC category certificate for Central Govt jobs or other schemes, jobs in the State Govt, facilities of Rural Development programmes towards financial help for construction of house and toilets to the poor in village, representation or right to vote for the local body and State Assembly elections.
Now when the BJP presented a Bill for grant of permanent residentship to WPHR in previous session, the NC and Congress party opposed the same because these parties are not in favour of granting permanent Residentship to WPHR. Dubgotra pleaded the entire Hindus to unit and support the West Pakistani refugees of 1947 to intensify their struggle towards grant of Permanent Resident Status of J&K State, as they are residing in Jammu region of J&K since 1947 on their migration from Pakistan on division of India and Pakistan due to the two religion theory.
The blankets were distributed among the widows and other needy families of the villages in presence of other villagers.
