RAJOURI, July 4: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) today held protest demonstrations here against curtailment in Government ration, price hike, property tax, shortage of water and electricity.
The protest was led by DPAP General Secretary R S Chib who expressed concern over curtailment in Government ration, rise in prices of essential commodities, rising unemployment and issues of electricity and potable water saying the anti-people measures have taken toll on every aspect of life in Jammu Kashmir.
“The authorities have cut down the monthly ration quota to consumers in J&K and supply of kerosene oil to consumers has disappeared while price hike and unemployment are breaking all records,” he said.
The protestors demanded restoration of monthly ration quota to consumers and roll back of imposition of Property Tax and other “anti-people” decisions.
After the protest rally, DPAP leaders presented a memorandum of demands to Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Vikas Kundal. The memorandum contained all the demands for which DPAP has been holding peaceful protest rallies for the past several months.
On the instructions of its Chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad, DPAP has held several rallies, protests and public outreach programmes in past weeks. Public outreach programmes, as per DPAP, are aimed at having first-hand accounts of public issues.
