UDHAMPUR, Feb 13: Democratic Progressive Azad Party’s leader came out in support of the demands of Anganwadi helpers and workers and said that if demands are not fulfilled, all Anganwadi centers will be closed in the district.
Jugal Kishore said that he knows that the Government is now sending them home after making full use of their 35 to 40 years of services with a simple order that those who have reached the age of 60 years should go home that too with empty hands.
“Some have not even received ten months’ salary. Apart from this, carriage charges of nutrition are not available, phone recharge is not available. We will not allow atrocities at any cost,” asserted former Minister RS Chib.
Councilor Preeti Khajuria said that on one hand the Government says that we are giving too much emphasis on women empowerment, while on the other hand they have made the women so helpless that they are now forced to come on the streets.
They requested the LG Government not to ignore these problems of women Anganwadi workers and frame a comprehensive policy for them.
Hundreds of Anganwadi workers including president Udhampur Neelam Sharma, president Ramnagar, Lalita Thakur, Sushma Devi, Rekha Devi and Luxmi Devi along with DPAP spokesperson Salman Nizami were present during the event.
