DPAP for revoking decision; JTC, SKP continue protest for 3rd day

JAMMU, May 16: Kashmiri Displaced People Wing president DPAP, has expressed dismay over issuance of orders regarding charging of power supply bills to the consumers living in camps at Jammu as well as in Transit accommodations of Kashmir for the first time after since last 33 Years of their exile.
In a joint statement issued here, today Sanjay Dhar, its chairman, Piaray Lal Pandita, vice president, R.K.Koul, general secretary, Raj Kumar Ticku, vice president non camps Rajender Kilam, Women’s Wing president, Daizy Dhar, Womens vice president Amrita Bhat, spokesperson, Gowher Wani, and others have urged the Government to revoke the decision immediately.
They said that they have not chosen displacement from Valley on their own but due to the failure of Government of J&K as well as Centre which failed to ensure safety to minorities in Kashmir.
They said till date all expenses of power, water, sanitation were being made by the Government of India, besides providing of cash assistance of Rs.108/- per soul per day up to maximum of four souls.
The leaders have further revealed that since last five years inspite of usual demands, no cash assistance stand enhanced from Rs.108/-per soul per day by the present Government also. And instead of the same it has charged power bills on the hapless people who have no source of income except the meagre cash relief given by Government. They demanded that the decision be revoked immediately.
Meanwhile, the protest launched by Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) led by Shadi Lal Pandita entered third consecutive day at Jagti township today.
The protestors warned to continue agitation till the order is revoked. They blamed Government of deliberately adding to miseries of displaced people to hide its own failure of providing security to them in Kashmir and rehabilitating them in Valley in accordance to the geo-political aspirations of the community.
