DP Sharma passes away

JAMMU, July 1: Veteran journalist and former Bureau Head Times of India for Jammu, DP Sharma passed away here early today. He was 76.
He was cremated at Jogi Gate at 12 noon. He is survived by his wife and son Varun Sharma, who lit the pyre.
Sharma, who had also served in Indian Express at New Delhi, was not keeping well for past some time.
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah, BJP leader Devender Rana, PDP leader and former Minister Nayeem Akhter and senior bureaucrat Rohit Kansal conveyed their condolences to the family of DP Sharma.
Press Club of Jammu Management Committee headed by Sanjeev Pargal also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
DP Sharma belonged to the family of journalists. He was son of BP Sharma, the first Director of Radio Station in Jammu, who was also Srinagar correspondent of Tribune when it was published from Lahore. DP Sharma’s brother, SP Sharma was also senior journalist of the Tribune while his nephew Arjun Sharma is current representatives of the Tribune in Jammu.
