POONCH, Feb 24: A scare was created in the villages of Mendhar sub division after dozens of mines exploded near the Line of Control in Sagra and Balnoi sub sectors last night.
Reports said that forest fire which started from the PoK side late last evening, spread into this side of the LoC, posing threat to some Indian forward posts. The troops got alerted and started fire fighting operation and protect their gadgets installed along the LoC.
As the area of fire started spreading, more and more land mines started exploding. It caused scare in the nearby villages during the mid night. The fire could be controlled this afternoon. The security forces went on high alert suspecting this as the handiwork of armed terrorists, trying to sneak into this side from the PoK.
