JAMMU, Aug 4: Senior Congress leader and former MLA Thakur Balwan Singh has said that disbanding and downgrading historical Dogra state was an insult to nationalist Dogras and the same needs to be restored without delay.
Interacting with senior Congress leaders and other prominent persons in Bhalwal area in Jammu, Balwan Singh said that disbanding and downgrading of the Dogra State has led to snatching away our identity and dignity and an insult to Dogras.
The Dogras are deeply hurt by this action and are seeking restoration of statehood status and rights without delay. The Centre should not test the patience of patriotic Dogras and others and restore the statehood status immediately and should not put the plea of doing it at appropriate time to delay the same.
JKPCC general secretary said that the arbitrary decision of August 5, 2019 disbanding and downgrading the state was against the wishes of all people and needs to reviewed to respect the sentiments of the people and settle the unrest amongst entire population.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included, Shamsher Singh Chib, Raj Dev Singh Jamwal, Kuldip Raj Bhagat, BDC Chairman Bhalwal Block, Raman Sharma, Kuljit Singh Sarpanch, Master Vijay Sharma, Uttam Chib and Hoshiar Singh.
