Abolition of Triple Talaq practice boon for Muslim women: Rekha

JAMMU, Aug 4: Two years ago, India reached a defining moment in women empowerment by abolishing the evil practice of TripleTalaq. Triple Talaq cases in India has now reduced by 80%. The historic law has strengthened the fundamental and Constitutional rights of the Muslim women said, Secretary, BJP, Jammu & Kashmir, Rekha Mahajan here, today.
She said PM Narendra Modi’s bold move has positively impacted countless lives .The Government led by Narendra Modi made the law against Triple Talaq to make effective the Supreme Court’s judgement. The Supreme Court, on 18th May, 2017, had declared Triple Talaq as unconstitutional. By abolishing the Triple Talaq, the Government has strengthened socio-economic, fundamental and Constitutional rights of the Muslim women. Even several Muslim-majority nations of the world had declared Triple Talaq as illegal and un-Islamic much earlier but it took 70 years for India to get rid of this inhuman and cruel practice.
August 1, 2019, will be remembered as a historic day in Indian Parliamentary history when the bill against Triple Talaq was made a law, despite the obstacle by so-called ‘champions of secularism’, including the Congress, Communist Party, Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj and others.
There were several incidents coming where women had been given Talaq (divorce) through letter, phone or even through messages and WhatsApp. Such incidents are unacceptable in a sensitive country and to a Government committed to inclusive development .
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi’s Government is committed to empowerment of all sections and social reforms. It is working with inclusive empowerment for every section, including Muslim women, which is crystal clear after the abolition of Triple Talaq practice.
