*Leh hospital to get MRI facility

LEH, June 7: Procured from MLC Area Fund, MLC from Leh Chering Dorjey in presence of Deputy Chairman, LAHDC, Leh Gyal P. Wangyal and Executive Councilor for Health, Tsering Sandup handed over an ambulance to PHC Sakti in a brief function held at the PHC today.
CMO, Leh Dr. Motup Dorjey BMO Dr Shamim Ahmad, MO PHC Sakti Dr Lal Didi, medical staffs of PHC Sakti, Sarpanch and villagers were present on the occasion.
Addressing the function, Chering Dorjey congratulated the people of Sakti area for having a new ambulance for PHC Sakti which will not only prove beneficial for people of this large area but will play a crucial role in evacuating patients from Changla-pass in case of emergency. A fully equipped ambulance at PHC Sakti was desperately needed since long time as this area is one of the busiest tourist routes in Ladakh beneath the famous Changla-pass, added Dorjey and hoped that this ambulance will be of great use for tourists as well as for entire Sakti area.
Speaking on the occasion, Dy Chairman Gyal P. Wangyal who is also the area Councillor thanked MLC Dorjey on behalf of entire Sakti people for sanctioning Rs. 11 lakhs out of his MLC fund last year for this much needed ambulance. He said that the ambulance was purchased last year but due to closure of Srinagar- Leh road the ambulance was kept at Srinagar.
Referring to facilities needed in PHC Sakti, Dy Chairman said that a complete Analyzer Machine for various blood tests will also be equipped in the laboratory of PHC Sakti soon and to keep the records of patients and for other office use a set of computer will be provided by J&K Bank under CSR for PHC Sakti, added Wangyal.
Executive Councilor for Health Tsering Sandup congratulated the people of Sakti area for having this ambulance for PHC Sakti. Highlighting the improving medical facilities in terms of infrastructure, equipments and services in Leh district, EC said that SNM hospital Leh is one of the best district hospital in the State and shared a very good news that with the efforts of Hill Council Leh, Airport Authority of India has agreed to sanction Rs. 12 crore for procurement of MRI Machine under their CSR scheme for SNM Hospital Leh.
